Caroline County
June 2008 - Caroline County has a healthy Little League system, but their all-star teams haven't fared well in regional competition.
That changed earlier this month, when the minor division all-star team of 9- and 10-year-olds stunned the competition, winning their district championship by a combined score of 72-7.
"We were very surprised," coach Ray Hess said at a recent scrimmage. Of the five games played during the district tournament, four of them were called early because Caroline had amassed a 10-run lead.
Fawn Lake
June 2008 - The Fawn Lake Country Club hosted the 10th Annual Rally for the Cure tournament on Wednesday, June 4. The field of 152 golfers, many sporting pink golf shirts, were reminded of the common purpose with the fight aganist Breast Cancer by the "Pink Paradise Pass" and "Rally for the Cure" contest holes, our new Fawn Lake Rally for the Cure pin flags on each green, inspirational bridge markers on the cart path, and, of course, pink mashed potatoes at lunch!
This year's Fawn Lake Rally for the Cure netted approximately $42,000 toward the fight against breast cancer! Thanks to all of the generosity this is our largest contribution to date and exceeded last year's total by over $11,000.
